Well it’s over a week now since my first post and look how much I’ve given you – links to Forward Prize winning poets and poems; a radio interview with the new New Yorker poetry editor, Paul Muldoon, a Harvard lecture on WB Yeats’s Among School Children, a Seamus Heaney reading, and perhaps a new poet for you, Jean Sprackland (although I hope many of you know her already).
Today I have nothing of myself to give you. Or I might have later, but not now. Just wanted to make sure my one reader knew I was thinking of them. If there are any more of you out there please have a little visit.
Here’s the link: Love poem by my dog, by John Hegley
It’s from the poem hunter site, which is a great resource but annoyingly full of adverts and pop-ups. Thanks to my friend Rachel for introducing me to the poem. It’s funny and, like all the best work, has a lot more depth than you might realise on first sight.
Thanks for reading
