I’ll get some better titles for these posts soon, but just quickly, on the topic of publication, have a read of an interview with Sean O’Brien in The Independent. Interesting views on avoiding publication of work too early. I remember reading that Ted Hughes used to publish his early work under a pseudonym, as did James Joyce famously, and Ronnie Barker (that was comedy but still for the effect of not prematurely ruining a reputation and ensuring his work was received because it was good enough). It also has an extract of another poem, Blizzard, from his Forward prize-winner The Drowned Book. My earlier post has a link to Fantasia on a Theme of James Wright, by Sean O’Brien from that same book.
